OUR STORY

Design isn't just what fills a room.

It's what fills a life.

I've been fortunate enough to call several places home—South Africa, Dubai, Kuwait and now Canada. Each country introduced me to different materials, traditions and ways of living, but one thing always remained the same.

The homes I remembered most weren't defined by the furniture.

They were remembered by the objects.

As a young man, I found myself listening to conversations while visiting friends and family. More often than not, the stories began with something sitting quietly on a shelf or resting on a table.

A basket collected during travels.
A bowl handed down through generations.
A vase bought on a honeymoon.
A small object that somehow became part of the family's story.

Those pieces were never simply decoration. They became conversation starters, reminders of places, people and moments that mattered.

I've carried that lesson with me ever since.

Whenever I travel, I almost always return home with something. A basket from Sri Lanka that now holds the television remotes. A hand-thrown bowl discovered in a quiet market. A carved vessel that found an entirely different purpose than the one it was originally made for.

To me, those are the objects that truly complete a home.

Design Needs No Reason;

Just Because was born from a simple belief.

Not everything needs a reason.

Sometimes a piece simply speaks to you.

Sometimes it makes you smile.
Sometimes it reminds you of someone.
Sometimes it becomes part of your daily rituals before you even realise it.

That philosophy inspired the name Just Because.

The semicolon became its symbol because I've always loved what it represents. In writing, a semicolon appears where a sentence could have ended, yet the author chooses to continue the thought.

I believe accessories do exactly the same for interiors.

Furniture establishes the sentence.

Objects continue the story.

The Villas

One of the first pieces I designed wasn't intended to become a collection.

It was simply a thank you.

Growing up, my parents created a home where my siblings and I always felt safe, supported and encouraged to pursue our own passions. I'm the oldest of three children and today we all live in different countries, yet that house remains the place we each still call home.

When it came time to thank my parents, flowers didn't feel permanent enough.

Words didn't feel lasting enough.

Instead, I designed three small marble homes.

One for each child.

A quiet reminder that although we've each built lives elsewhere, we will always belong to the home they created—and they will always be part of ours.

The Villas became more than a gift.

They became the beginning of Just Because.

Designed to be Remembered

Today, every piece begins with the same question.

Not how it will look.

But how it will be lived with.

I don't create accessories to simply occupy space.

I create objects that invite conversation, hold memories and quietly become part of someone's story.

Because long after a room has changed, it is often the smallest objects that remain.
